How does it work?
➊ Before we start with the lessons, if you aren’t sure about your level, I will recommend a diagnostic test so you can find out. You don’t need to worry because a placement test is not an exam, so you don’t have to study to prepare for it: in fact, the less preparation, the more reliable the results you’ll get about your actual level.
➋ Once you have the details about your level, we will arrange an interview in person (which can also be conducted on the phone, through Skype, or via e-mail, by responding to a series of questions). This interview gives me the chance to carry out an in-depth pedagogical analysis of your personal needs.
➌ With this information, I will create a personalised curriculum for you and choose the materials that are best suited to your learning style. As soon as we get the materials for you, your learning itinerary can start!
General terms and conditions
1. Duration and location
1.1 Face-to-face individual lessons have a minimum duration of 45 minutes. In order to be inclusive of transportation costs, they need to be booked in blocks of minimum 90 minutes. The transportation costs that are included in the prices per lesson are limited to the 110 Zurich public transport area. For lessons outside this area, a supplement will be calculated based on the duration of the commute and the price of a return public transport ticket.
1.2 Online individual lessons have a minimum duration of 45 minutes. In order to be able to follow the lessons virtually, it is necessary to have a computer or tablet with a high-speed internet connection, loudspeakers and microphone (or a headset), a webcam and video-call software that allows for screen sharing (Skype, Zoom or similar). Students are responsible for providing themselves with the necessary technical equipment for the correct development of the lessons.
2. Payment terms
2.1 An invoice will be issued at the end of each month for the outstanding amount. The monthly invoice is due within 14 calendar days from the date of issue.
2.2 Up-front payments are not required when signing up.
2.3 Students who fail to pay in due time lose their entitlement to continue receiving lessons but still remain obliged to pay any outstanding invoices.
2.4 Non-payment of an invoice according to the present terms will result in the addition of late fees as follows:
- first reminder (15th day after the date of issue of the invoice): free
- second reminder (21st day after the date of issue of the invoice): +10% of the payable amount
- third reminder (31st day after the date of issue of the invoice):+ 20% of the payable amount
2.5 In the event of longer non-payment periods, legal action will be taken to recover any outstanding fees.
3. Students’ right to cancellation
3.1 Students may cancel their course participation at any time. This has to be done in person or in writing, without obligation to state the reasons for the cancellation. This will take effect with the confirmation of the teacher.
3.2 The cancellation of booked lessons (that is, for which a date and time has been set) has to be done at least 24 hours in advance, also in case of illness. There is no obligation to state the reasons. Failure to comply with this notice period will result in the charge of a penalty fee.
3.3 If a student fails to attend a booked lesson and does not notify the cancellation before the lesson time starts, they will be billed for the booked session in full.
4. Teacher’s right to cancellation
The teacher reserves the right to cancel a course or lesson without notice at any time, as long as she justifies this cancellation, in person or in writing. No fees will be charged for lessons that have not taken place for this reason.
5. Punctuality
5.1 The duration of the lesson will start counting at the agreed start time until the agreed end time and will be billed in full, therefore arriving at classes late and leaving early is discouraged.
5.2 In the eventuality that the teacher has some delay, this time will be compensated in a way that the whole duration that was booked gets taught.
6. Discounts
The booking of intensive courses or prepaid blocks of 20 or more hours may be susceptible to price reductions, which will be individually arranged before the start of the contract.
7. Concluding provision
Students are responsible for their own accident and liability insurance.
